Drake, G-Eazy and Ludacris Dedicate Their Concerts to Mac Miller After His Death
Yesterday (Sept. 7), the rap community lost one of its most respected tenants when 26-year-old Mac Miller was discovered dead of an apparent drug overdose in his San Fernando Valley home in California. In the hours following the announcement of his death, artists from across the spectrum paid tribute to the rapper, and now, folks like Drake, G-Eazy and Ludacris have even dedicated shows to his memory.
Taking the stage at Boston's TD Garden last night, Drizzy took a moment to speak on his friend Miller before announcing that his show would serve as a tribute to the rapper.
“I want to dedicate this show to my late friend Mac Miller who was always a kind man,” Drizzy said before jumping into a performance of "Emotionless." "We about to go in for Mac tonight."
Taking the stage that same night, G-Eazy performed his Kehlani-assisted 2015 single, "Everything Will Okay" after dedicating a few words to the rapper. He spoke on the moment in a heartfelt Instagram post.
"Performed everything will be ok for you tonight and fuckin broke down on stage," Gerald wrote in the post. "Rest peacefully bro, we miss you."
In his own Mac Miller dedication, Luda had a South Carolina crowd hold up their cell phones while encouraging anyone who's dealing with personal problems to reach out for help.
