21 Savage’s ‘I Am > I Was’ Album Lands at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Congratulations are in order. 21 Savage is the owner of the No. 1 album in the country as his I Am > I Was LP has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The Slaughter Gang rapper's new offering raked in 131,000 equivalent album units in week one, reports Nielsen Music. That tally consisted of 18,000 worth of traditional album sales. As is the norm, the bulk of the album's sales were driven by streams. Like Kodak Black last week, this is the former XXL Freshman's first time being at the top spot on the album chart. He has, however, had a seat at the table previously.

Without Warning with Offset and Metro Boomin peaked at No. 4 upon its release last November. His debut solo studio LP Issa Album came in one spot short at No. 2 and Savage Mode with Metro Boomin hit the No. 23 slot.

I Am > I Was features City Girls' Yung Miami, Post Malone, Childish Gambino, Offset, Project Pat, ScHoolboy Q, Young Nudy, Gunna and Lil Baby. Production duties were handled by Metro Boomin, Southside, FKi 1st, Wheezy and more.

The LP has had its bit of controversy after LeBron James had to apologize for posting lyrics that featured Jewish stereotypes from the song "ASMR" on Instagram. 21 ended up apologizing as well.

Other hip-hop artists in the top 10 of the chart include A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie whose Hoodie SZN album rolls in at No. 2. Meek Mill's Championships comes in at No. 6. Kodak Black's Dying to Live slides from No. 1 to No. 9 and Travis Scott's Astroworld is still holding on at No. 10.
