Young Thug Launches YSL Records

Young Thug is building his empire. The Atlanta rapper has signed a label deal with 300 Entertainment for his own YSL Records imprint.

The above video, posted on Young Thug's Snapchat Tuesday (Nov. 15), shows Thugger getting his own office for YSL Records within the 300 Ent. headquarters. The short video clips show 300 co-founder Kevin Liles making a speech to toast the YSL team and 300 staff at the office.

"Him starting a new venture is going to take us to a different mindset and not just in artists in this particular case," Liles says in the clip. Lyor pops up later on, flossing his own YSL chain.

Now that he has a physical office, the Jeffery rapper can start signing and cultivating new artists under his fledging label. YSL Duke will be on the roster along with other artists to be announced in the near future.

Now that Thug is rolling with Manny Haley as his new management, he's been in talks for sponsorships with clothing brands and just kicked off his HIHORSE'D tour with 21 Savage.

Lyor Cohen made headlines of his own recently when it was announced that the record label exec would be moving to the digital world. News broke in late September that Cohen was named the head of YouTube Global Music. Cohen will remain in his CEO position at 300 until Dec. 5 and then the label’s management “will transition Lyor’s day-to-day responsibilities to the leadership team within the company.”

Fellow founder Todd Moscowitz announced earlier this month that he too would be leaving 300 Ent. to start his own new label called Cold Heat Records, a joint venture with the Universal Music Group.
